(i) PAKYONG
PAKYONG is another town of EAST SIKKIM which is grabbing tourist attraction these days. PAKYONG is a town in the foothills of the Himalayas located in the East Sikkim district of the SIKKIM. It is situated at an altitude of 1700m (5577ft), and it shares India’s international borders with BHUTAN and CHINA. PAKYONG used to be a small settlement until the Central government grant for the first airport in SIKKIM to be built in this town brought it into the limelight in the late nineties. It is also the home town of the legendary footballer of India Baichung Bhutia.
The main tourist attractions of PAKYONG are RDD complex, Shivalaya temple, Pacheykhani cave, Changey monastery, Devi Mandir, Karthok monastery and Monks’ Retreat Centre.and Wednesday Bazar 'hart' is a popular local attraction. Most interestingly old British bunkers at British Killa are still seen here. Presence of this suggest that some times this place was with the presence of British armed bunkers. In this days PAKYONG is becoming popular tourist attraction spot for the visitors who are always on their toes to visit new spots.
(ii) SINGTAM
SINGTAM is a town in EAST SIKKIM district in the SIKKIM. SINGTAM is about 30 km from the state capital GANGTOK. SINGTAM is often referred as the business capital of SIKKIM since it connects the four districts of the SIKKIM. SINGTAM comes from a Lepcha word that says about a place where logs were collected. It had been known since ages that the rivers used to carry tree logs from distant places and leave along the bank of SINGTAM. All the places of SINGTAM Lal bazaar was once a river bank.
SINGTAM is better known among the folks for its Government Fruit Preservation Factory located at Shantinagar, only motarable tunnel in the state at Toppakhani and the oldest iron bridge of SIKKIM at the heart of the town. Friday weekly haat is very popular among the neighbouring places. SINGTAM is the home town of Late Ganga Kaptan, the first Nepali novelist from SIKKIM and Uttam Pradhan, a popular cine star in world of Nepali film industry. SINGTAM in SIKKIM is abundant with the yellow heap of oranges, beside the road, during the season. SINGTAM is also gaining popularity amongst the visitors willing to do water activity. Angling is very popular activity of the tourist who visit this Sector. Rafting is also done here but subject to permission from the administration.
(iii) TOURIST VILLAGE PASTANGA
PASTANGA VILLAGE in Assam Lingzey is situated at an altitude of 1425 meters (4676 ft.)! Its two hours drive from GANGTOK. The enchanting small village provides magnificent view from the mountain ranges. The visitors can wander up lush green mountain trails where one comes across sum beautiful waterfalls along the path. There are uncommon species of bamboos in dense of Rhododendron and magnolia forest. The visitors are provided with house stay facilities with organized cultural programme and local handicrafts show. It can also be worth while to go to traditional houses of ethnic communities, some being one hundred and fifty many years previous. PASTANGA can also be the take off level for Khedi trekking route.
(iv) KYONGNOSLA FOREST VILLAGE
KYONGNOSLA FOREST VILLAGE is another upcoming Tourist Destination of SIKKIM. This forest village of the EAST SIKKIM TRAVEL CIRCUIT is located in the EAST SIKKIM DISTRICT just at a distance of 29 KM from the GANGTOK CITY. The area is snow covered often upto May when primulas pop up through the snow and rhododendrons come into bud. By June-July they are full bloom. Flowering succession by the many species continues right through to October when Polygonum sp. the last to flower, dries up. First snowfall is normally by December - January. Tranquil trekking trail begins from KYONGNOSLA VILLAGE. This spot is a real paradise for the trekkers. There are many but sum of the most popular tricking spots starts from here are follows:-
(a) Tseten Tashi Cave - Rong Chu 1 km.
(b) Helipad - Kheding and back
(c) Helipad - Simulakha - Goral Rock - Tashipong - Rong Chu 6.5 km.
(d) Rong chu - Namnang Lakha - Nakcho and back 20 km.
The most important point to note dawn is that for tricking in this Travel Sector Visitors needs to obtain prior permission.
