residence of the manager of DAMDIN TEA ESTATE. Now the burra sahibs are
gone but efforts are underway to restore the bungalows to their past glory and
give the well-heeled traveller a taste of the planter’s lifestyle.

This hamlet. CHUKHIGAM is a quaint little mountain village of 250 families

After crossing the railway line that cannects
EASTERNDOOARS and WESTER DOOARS by connecting Alipurduar and Siliguri. Near BAGRAKOT
one can see on both sides of the asphalt road lay undulating tea plantations
interspersed with shade trees and after passing the wooden quarters of the tea gardens staff, which looked like doll’s houses, a bustling bazaar and the rest
part is CHEEL FOREST after passing Chunabhati. From Chunabhati the stone-paved track is rough. Only tough jeeps can weather its bumpy ride. The next 12km-stretch till CHUKHIGAM passes through the forest. As they gradually gain hight, they can view on their right, the serpentine lees river bed luing far below. this village CHUKHIGAOM proudly finds its place in Travel
and Tourism fairs and many travelers have lost their way to the CHUKHIGAOM hills
