This sector is consisted with THIMPHU District. THIMPHU is the capital of BHUTAN. THIMPHU is perhaps the most unusual capital in the world is a bustling town on the banks of its own river and gloriously in the hills of its own valley - is the centre of government, religion and commerce. THIMPHU became the capital of BHUTAN on 1961. Now this city is one of the must see city for all the travellers who plans BHUTAN trip. THIMPHU offers a wide of attractions for its travellers.

TASHICHHO DZONG:-
Tashichho DZONG IS on the bank of the river, the main secretarial building which houses the throne room of His Majesty the King of Bhutan.The present DZONG was built in the 18th century by Shabdrung Rinpoche to house government officials. Later it was enlarged to accommodate both the monastic and civil bodies. It suffered thrice severe damage from fire and once from an earthquake in 1897, much of the historic building dates from the rebuilding in 1902. To accommodate the national government and the central monastic body, the DZONG was totally refurbished and enlarged in 1962, a year after THIMPHU was designated the nation's capital.

Simtokha DZONG is another major attraction of this city. This was built in 1629 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, Simtokha was the first DZONG to be built in a unified Bhutan. Currently, it houses the country's main DZONGKHA language learning institute. Simtokha is about 5km south of THIMPHU.
CHANGANGKHA LHAKHANG: -
Changangkha LHAKHANG expands the list further. This was constructed in the 15th century, this is one of the oldest temples in the THIMPHU Valley, and is dedicated to Avalokiteshvara, the Buddhist emanation of compassion. The temple affords wonderful views over the entire valley.
THE NATIONAL MEMORIAL CHORTEN: -
The National Memorial Chorten is another major attraction of THIMPHU. This is located in Jangchhub Lam. In evening a traveller can view that the locals are doing their evening prayers. The stupa was built in 1974 in memory of the third king.
ZANGTHOPERI LHAKHANG: -
Zangthoperi LHAKHANG is another religious attraction of THIMPHU. This is situated in lower THIMPHU.The present structure was built in 1960s and although lacking the charm of many of the older temples, Zangdopelri still possesses some impressive murals and art treasures and is worthy of a visit. The site of the temple was a former battle ground, and the temple was constructed there in order to pacify energies.
STATUE OF SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA AND SUN SET POINT:-
The sun set point on top of Kuensel Phodrang hill near bronze statue (51.5 MTR) Statue of Sakyamuni Buddha is really worth taking. It offers unobstructed views over the THIMPHU Valley.
NATIONAL LIBRARY: -
National Library is bound to attract any traveller’s attention. It has a rare collection of Buddhist texts on the second floor, and there is a small selection of English books on Buddhism and on Bhutan on the first floor.
JIGME DORJI WANGCHUK PUBLIC LIBRARY: -
Jigme Dorji Wangchuk Public Library situated in Top end Norzin Lam is a small library that has a good selection of English books, and appreciates donations of popular titles, especially those on Buddhism and Bhutan.
GOLF COURSE: -
Just next to this DZONG is Bhutan's only golf course, a nine whole circuit that is far more picturesque than its testing.
NATIONAL FOLK HERITAGE MUSEUM: -
Just behind the NATIONAL LIBRARY is The National Folk Heritage Museum. This is a traditional house that showcases rural life. Many exhibitions and cultural shows are held in the museum compound.
ZORIG CHUSM SCHOOL OF TRADITIONAL ARTS; -
Zorig Chusum School of Traditional Arts or Handicraft Emporium also carries its own importance in the tourist map oh THIMPHU. It is also situated near National Library. Zorig Chusum was established in 1971 to preserve the thirteen traditional arts of Bhutan.
THE TEXTILE MUSEUM: -
The Textile Museum situated in Norzin Lam is another major attraction of THIMPHU. It displays exquisite Bhutanese textiles from the 1600s to the present day.
BOTANICAL GARDEEN: -
Any Botanical Gardens are always a treat to visit and THIMPU’S Botanical Gardens is also not an exception. It is located on lush hillside about 10km from the city, and offer a peaceful and relaxing environment to spend a few hours. Botanists will find the wide selection of indigenous trees and plants of interest.
CORNATION PARK: -
For real nature lover Coronation Park is a sure see spot. It is located on the banks of the river (near the city stadium), this 5.6 acres of parkland offer a pleasant and relaxing environment to stroll or to sit and watch the river flow by.
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TRADITIONAL MEDICINE: -
Last but not the list tourist attraction of THIMPHU city is The National Institute of Traditional Medicine situated in Serzhong Lam. This is an excellent place to have any chronic ailments diagnosed and treated using herbal compounds. Please ensure to keep the prescription. If the medicine is effective, it might be order more in the future.
This THIMPHU SECTOR stretches beyond the THIMPHU city, and goes past to DOCHU-LA, the first mountain pass in the western part of BHUTAN. The 108 DRUK WANGYAL CHORTENS on the top of the pass where the ridges are draped in colourful prayer flag provides a scenic view. In a clear day travellers can view the panorama of the HIMALAYAN MOUNTAIN RANGE from here which is really very hard to miss.
Dochula Pass
Bhutan the Land of Thunder dragon is surrounded by Beautiful Mountains and passes all over. Being in the Himalayan zone Bhutan has the most beautiful mountains in Jumolhari, Jichu drakay and Kula Gangir which lies in the Northen Part and bordered to China.Dochula Pass which is the most known pass in the Bhutan is just 30 odd Km drive from the Capital City Thimphu on the way towards central Bhutan/ Punakha. Dochula pass is around 3150 meter from sea level and it's mostly covered with white clouds, where on a clear day you can see spectacular view of the mighty Himalayas mountain ranges. Dochula pass serves the stop for all the passer by traveling to and fro to punakha and wandgi for a hot cup of coffee well served from the Dochula Cafeteria located just above the Beautiful Dochula Pass.The pass is popular for tourists for its ideal location from where one can enjoy 360 degree of beautiful panoramic view of Himalaya mountain range, especially on clear winter days. The pass provides the picturesque view of Himalayas in the up and lowland punakha district in the down as when on clear blue sky, you are lucky to see the beautiful gasa dzong through a high powered telescope. The beauty of this place is further enhanced by the Druk Wangyal Chortens-108 stupa built by the eldest Queen Mother Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk. The pass is also popular spiritual place for both locals and tourists because of an important temple that is located on the crest of Dochula pass. Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck has achieved a fine blend of history and mythology in the construction of The Druk Wangyal Lhakhang (temple) to honor His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The past and future appear to merge in the details of the lhakhang (temple) that tells the story of a supreme warrior figure whose vision pierces the distant future. Besides the spirituality of the place many Bhutanese families visit the pass during holidays and weekends to simply enjoy the scenery of the place with their pack lunch and hot tea. For the tourist the place is an ideal location to capture beautiful pictures of Himalaya mountain range during clear warm days.
